Ashgabat has been awarded an international certificate for achievements in the field of nature protection.


Ashgabat was awarded an International certificate for assistance and contribution to the initiative of the UN Economic Commission for Europe “Trees for Cities” through landscaping actions. This was announced by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Raşit Meredow at the government meeting on the digital system on April 22. According to him, the UN Deputy Secretary General, Executive Secretary of the UN Economic Commission for Europe received an International Certificate awarded to the city of Ashgabat for assistance and contribution to the UNECE initiative “Trees in Cities” through landscaping actions. The Deputy Prime Minister noted that the nationwide tree planting campaign held in March this year with the participation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov clearly confirms Turkmenistan’s commitment to fulfilling its international obligations in the field of ecology. The Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulated the head of Turkmenistan on this achievement, which testifies to the international recognition of the efforts made by our country to protect the environment and ensure environmental safety, and wished him good health, longevity and great success in his state activities. Having received the information with satisfaction and addressing his compatriots, the President of Turkmenistan congratulated everyone on the presentation of the UNECE Certificate to Ashgabat for assistance and contribution to the Trees in Cities initiative through landscaping actions. As President Serdar Berdimuhamedov stressed, we will continue to work on turning our country into a blooming garden, using advanced scientific achievements and modern technologies. The Head of State stressed that the official recognition of Ashgabat’s contribution to ensuring environmental safety is evidence of many years of fruitful cooperation between Turkmenistan and the UN.
