Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday embarked on a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates and Qatar, highlighting the robust ties India shares with these nations. In his departure statement, PM Modi said that his visit will deepen India’s bilateral ties with both the nations.
“Our cooperation with the UAE has grown manifold over the last nine years in diverse sectors such as trade, investment, defense, and education,” PM Modi stated, underscoring the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries. His agenda includes a meeting with His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss further strengthening bilateral relations.
Invited by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, PM Modi will address world leaders at the World Government Summit in Dubai. The Summit’s theme, ‘Shaping Future Governments’, aligns with India’s vision for transformative governance. “I am honored to deliver a keynote address at this prestigious event,” Modi said, according to a government press release.
PM Modi will also inaugurate the first Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi, which he said will be “an enduring tribute to the values of harmony, peace and tolerance, which both India and the UAE share.”
Speaking of his visit to Qatar, which comes after the Qatari authorities released former Indian Navy personnel arrested in an alleged espionage case, PM Modi said, “India and Qatar enjoy historically close and friendly relations.” He added, “In recent years, our multifaceted ties have continued to deepen in all spheres including high level political exchanges, growing trade and investment between two countries, strengthening of our energy partnership, and cooperation in culture and education.”
