Peskov: CIS countries – Russia’s main foreign policy priority

Russian Presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has called the CIS countries the main foreign policy priority of the Russian Federation, noting that Russia has very advanced bilateral relations with almost all of them, except Georgia and Moldova.

He was speaking in an exclusive interview with the Argumenty i Fakty newspaper, the Russian bureau of Report informs.

“If we talk about the rest, we treat their sovereignty with absolute respect. And at the same time, we remember our common history, our economic interdependence that developed during the Soviet era,” Peskov added.

He noted that all these types of integration in the post-Soviet space are workable, their potential is far from being fully realized.

“Somewhere, of course, problems arise – when we are talking about such close interaction, it cannot be done without problems. But the partnership nature of the relationship allows us to constructively overcome all this,” Peskov emphasized.
