Azerbaijan, Turkey to mutually recognize food certificates

Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Turkey will conduct an exchange of information on harmful organisms, on which quarantine is applied, it has been reflected in the draft law “On approval of Agreement “On cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Government of the Republic of Turkey in field of food safety”, which is recommended to a plenary meeting of Azerbaijani Parliament, APA reports.

According to the project, both countries will be provided with information on mutual exchange, recognition, and changes in accordance with the equivalence principle of the certificate samples issued to food products.

Moreover, the parties will exchange information on food products whose circulation is prohibited or restricted in accordance with national legislation, as well as food products under veterinary and phytosanitary control.

Notably, this agreement comes into force from the date of receipt of the last written notification sent by the parties to each other on the implementation of internal procedures necessary for its entry into force through diplomatic channels.

This agreement remains in force indefinitely. At any time, one of the parties may notify the other one in writing form through diplomatic channels of its intention to terminate this agreement. The cancellation will take effect 6 months after receipt of such notification.
