Russia keen to strengthen cooperation with Azerbaijan — PM

Moscow is sincerely interested in further strengthening cooperation with Baku, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said during talks with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ali Asadov.

“Of course, I want to say that we are sincerely interested in strengthening ties and cooperation with Azerbaijan. That is our approach,” Mishustin said.

According to him, the declaration on allied cooperation between Russia and Azerbaijan is a reliable basis for this collaboration.

He also noted the countries’ cooperation in the humanitarian field, including higher education. “Over 7,000 Azerbaijani students study in Russia,” Mishustin pointed out.

He also referred to the launch of a program to support Russian theaters abroad. “We are also ready to assist the Azerbaijan State Academic Russian Drama Theater in staging performances as well as in acquiring new equipment,” the official added.

Overall, he concluded that he was sincerely glad to meet Asadov again. Mishustin thanked Baku for the warm welcome. “Taking this opportunity, I also convey best wishes and words of greetings from Russian President Vladimir Putin,” the prime minister said.
