President of Turkmenistan received OSCE Secretary General

On 5 March, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with OSCE Secretary General Helga Schmid in Ashgabat. The sides exchanged views on the main areas of cooperation. This article was published by the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” publication.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov said that Turkmenistan is in favour of active cooperation aimed at preserving peace, security and sustainable development both on a regional and global scale. In this regard, he emphasised that the republic has always been committed to a close partnership with the OSCE in countering modern challenges and threats.

The Head of State also noted that Turkmenistan has a rich energy potential. In this context, he spoke about the relevance of carrying out concrete work within the OSCE, including in the political, financial and environmental dimensions, for the transport and transit of energy resources to the world market.

Berdimuhamedov also confirmed the readiness of the Turkmen side to expand the partnership with the OSCE in the field of transport. Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the ecological forum of this international structure, held in Ashgabat on 4 March, and the environment ministers of the Central Asian countries will serve to intensify a fruitful dialogue in this area.
