Envoy pushes back against Ukrainian foreign minister’s call to isolate Russian diplomats

Nobody is going to isolate Russian diplomats, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova wrote on her Telegram channel as she responded to a recent remark by Ukraine’s top diplomat.

Earlier on Tuesday, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba outlined five steps toward “a Ukrainian victory” as he called on the West, among other things, to “isolate Russian diplomats in relevant capitals and international organizations”.

“Nobody is going to isolate Russian diplomats,” Zakharova warned Kuleba. “The world is tired of the burden of illegitimate sanctions and painful ambitions of a narrow group of Western regimes,” she added.

Zakharova declared that Russia had vast plans during its BRICS chairmanship this year.

“Alongside international activities abroad, our country will also host major events on its territory. One of them will be the World Youth Festival on March 1-7,” she said.

“As for international organizations, we will be defending not only our position there, but also work for the preservation of the letter and spirit of these structures, which today are exposed to a barbaric attack of Western liberal dictatorships,” Zakharova added.
