Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan expressed readiness to strengthen transport partnership

Turkmen Ambassador Nura Goliyev met with Kyrgyz Minister of Transport and Communications Tilek Tekebaev in Bishkek on 28 February. This was announced by the press service of the Turkmen Foreign Ministry.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the intensification of transport, transit and logistics cooperation between the two countries, the implementation of joint projects within the framework of international and regional initiatives.

The participants of the meeting noted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of regional and international partnership in the transport sector. Taking into account the favourable geographical location of the two countries, the parties expressed readiness to strengthen cooperation, taking full advantage of the opportunities available for this purpose.

According to Minister Tekebayev, Kyrgyzstan considers Turkmenistan one of the most important partners in the Central Asian region and supports initiatives to create transport corridors that strengthen multilateral cooperation.

Earlier, a delegation from the Turkmenviaz agency held talks in Bishkek with representatives of the Ministry of Digital Development and a number of sectoral agencies. The meeting was held within the framework of the UNDP project “Facilitating the implementation of the pilot system of inter-agency electronic interaction (IEI) in Turkmenistan”.
