Russia starts tracking French frigate entering Black Sea: Defense Ministry

French frigate Auvergne tracked by Russia’s Black Sea Fleet’s forces, ministry says.

MOSCOW (AA) – The French frigate Auvergne that has entered the Black Sea is being tracked by the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s forces, Russia’s National Defense Control Center said on Tuesday.

“The Black Sea Fleet’s forces and capabilities have started to track the French Navy’s missile frigate Auvergne that has entered the Black Sea,” said the statement.

Auvergne, an Aquitaine-class frigate of the French navy, is a multi-purpose warship with missile and artillery armament.

With its advanced sonar equipment, the warship specializes in anti-submarine warfare.
