Floods kill 6 in Indonesia

Flash floods occurred in East Java due to intense rain resulting in overflow of Brantas River.

At least six people died due to flash floods that hit East Java, Indonesia, an official said Friday.

Flash floods occurred on Thursday night because of torrential rains resulting in an overflow of the Brantas River, according to the Indonesian National Board for Disaster Management.

Abdul Muhari, the agency’s spokesman, said an emergency team has recovered the bodies.

Another team successfully rescued six residents who had been declared missing, Muhari added.

“Until now there are three other residents who were reported missing and are still being searched,” he said.
