Russia, China to hold exercises in East China Sea

Russia and China will hold naval exercises in the East China Sea with practical rocket and artillery firing. The maneuvers called Naval Interaction-2022 will take place from December 21 to December 27, the Russian Defense Ministry said, Report informs via Russian media.

During the active part of the exercises, it is also planned to work out joint anti-submarine actions with the use of weapons. The primary purpose of the maneuvers is to strengthen naval cooperation between Russia and China, as well as “maintain peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region.”

A detachment of warships of the Pacific Fleet has already left Vladivostok to participate in the exercises. From the Russian side, the cruiser Varyag, the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov, the corvettes Hero of the Russian Federation Aldar Tsydenzhapov and Sovershennyy are involved. China will use two destroyers and patrol ships, an integrated supply ship and a diesel submarine.
