President Mirziyoyev calls for uniting efforts to address urgent problems within OTS

Uzbekistan has set forth an initiative on the creation of the New Economic Opportunities Space within the framework of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Report informs via Uzbek media.

“As we are all facing serious trials, today it is extremely important to outline common approaches and coordinate efforts to address the most relevant issues,” President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at the session of the heads of the countries that are members of the Organization of Turkic States.

He noted that in period of its presidency, Uzbekistan intends to take the cooperation between the countries of the organization to a higher level.

He said mutual trade between the OTS member-states is just 4% of the total volume of foreign trade. The rest part is accounted for by the third countries. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the volume of trade within the organization.

Mirziyoyev suggested holding the International Turkic Economic Forum annually with participation of the OTS member-states and observer countries, as well as leading international companies.

Moreover, he urged the OTS states to join the system of electronic exchange of permissions in the sphere of transport, recently introduced between Turkiye and Uzbekistan.
