Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister and Japan’s Cabinet Secretary General discussed steps to improve partnership

The participants of the meeting reaffirmed the importance of holding the first summit of heads of state of the Central Asia + Japan dialogue.

On January 22, Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov met with Japanese Cabinet Secretary General Yoshimashi Hayashi in Tokyo. The sides exchanged views on further development of cooperation in priority areas.

Meredov and Hayashi discussed the issue of strengthening relations in the Central Asia-Japan format. Both sides confirmed the importance of holding the first summit of heads of state of the Central Asia + Japan dialogue.

The Turkmen side appreciated the current level of cooperation between Ashgabat and Tokyo in the political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The meeting participants also noted with satisfaction the successful implementation of joint projects in the energy and gas-chemical sectors. They emphasized that trade and economic cooperation between the two countries is gradually developing.
