Turkmenistan and Organization of Turkic States consider bilateral cooperation

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov on March 27 met with Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Kubanychbek Omuraliev, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in an event on the announcement of Anau city as the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2024, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.

The Minister emphasized that the comprehensive development and strengthening of bilateral and multilateral cooperation with the Turkic states occupies an important place in the foreign policy strategy of Turkmenistan. The country attaches special importance to productive interaction in international and regional structures, including the Organization of Turkic States.

The sides exchanged views on expanding and strengthening multilateral interaction within the framework of this Organization. The Turkmen side emphasized that Turkmenistan, as an observer country, takes an active part in the activities of this international structure.

It was emphasized that Turkmenistan is interested in considering its partnership with a number of international structures affiliated with this Organization, in particular with TURKPA, the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation.

The parties noted the significance of the Meeting of the Council of Elders of the OTS, which took place on March 11-12, 2024 in Ashgabat at a high organizational level with the participation of the Chairman of the People’s Assembly Gurbanguly Berdimukhamedov.
