Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosts UN’s Special Representative

Today, on February 14, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General, Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, Natalya Gherman, who is ending her posting.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev highly valued the fruitful cooperation with the regional center and other UN structures in the development of a constructive dialogue and multifaceted cooperation in Central Asia.

He emphasized that over the past few years, at Uzbekistan’s initiative and with the support of the entire international community, four resolutions of the General Assembly were adopted on the most relevant areas of partnership in the region.

With the direct participation of the center, a number of major international forums and meetings were jointly organized in Uzbekistan. In addition, platforms for the dialogue of women leaders in Central Asia and the Academy of Preventive Diplomacy for Youth have been launched.

Natalya Gherman assured that in her new position as head of the executive structure of the counter-terrorism committee of the United Nations Security Council, she would continue to promote close cooperation with Uzbekistan in the field of ensuring regional security and stability.
