Representatives of Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Russia in Astrakhan will discuss the prospects for creating an international multimodal corridor.
The multimodal transport corridor will originate in Kyrgyzstan and pass through the territories of Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and then it will reach Russia through the international port of Turkmenbashi. Cargo will be delivered by auto trailers from Kyrgyzstan to the seaport of Turkmenbashi through Uzbekistan, then by auto ferries to Russia through the Astrakhan region, A24 reported.
Kyrgyzstan will make every effort to make this corridor work, head of the Department of Automobile and Railway Transport of the Ministry of Transport Adylbek Akmatov.
Over 60,000 tons of cargo was transported through Turkmenistan in 11 months of last year via the North-South International Transport Corridor, the Turkmen media reported. 220 containers were delivered to the countries of South Asia and the Persian Gulf through Iran. The figure was significantly lower a year before: a total of 700 tons were transported. Transshipment of cement, chemical products, fertilizers and paper increased.
