President of Kazakhstan met with the Pope

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Pope Francis in the Vatican and expressed his gratitude for his efforts for the development of humanity. Details of the meeting were provided by the Presidential Press Service.

The Kazakh leader emphasised that the protection of the right to freedom of religion is an integral part of his political line and that followers of all faiths make a great contribution to the construction of “Just Kazakhstan”.

Tokayev added that the republic, located at the crossroads of civilisations, has managed to establish the principle of respect for all religions and beliefs. People of different faiths can pray in the temples available in Kazakhstan.

Expressing full solidarity with the message of Pope Francis “To Destiny and Peace”, the President said that countries should unite to promote the ideas of peace, intercultural and interreligious dialogue and development for the benefit of people of all faiths.
