PM Aripov lands in Georgia on official visit

Yesterday, July 17, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili hosted the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov, the press service of the government of Georgia said.

On July 17, Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov landed in Tbilisi, Georgia on an official visit. The high-ranking guest was hosted by Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili. The official welcoming ceremony took place in the government administration, with the national anthems of both countries were played.

After the welcoming ceremony, meetings were held in the government administration in the one-on-one format and in an expanded format.

The Prime Minister Garibashvili, on behalf of the government and people of Georgia, congratulated President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his victory in the recent elections and wished success to Uzbekistan and the Uzbek people.

“I welcome my dear colleague, the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Mr. Abdulla Aripov. I am very happy to host him in Tbilisi. Relations are constantly developing, and today’s visit of the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan is a testimony to this. On behalf of our government and our people, I take this opportunity to congratulate President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on his victory in the elections. I wish success to Uzbekistan and the Uzbek people,” he said.

In turn, Abdulla Aripov thanked Irakli Garibashvili for the warm welcome and called today’s meeting a logical follow-up of the dialogue between the two countries.

During the one-on-one meeting, the PMs discussed issues of trade and economic cooperation and Georgia’s transit potential and the importance of developing the Middle Corridor and promoting this transport route to become an international route.

After the one-on-one meeting, negotiations took place with the participation of delegations in an expanded format.

The parties reportedly reviewed the main areas of bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Uzbekistan. and noted that Georgia and Uzbekistan were stable trading partners and pointed to a huge untapped potential in investment in various sectors.

After an extended meeting, an action plan was signed to develop bilateral cooperation between Georgia and Uzbekistan for 2023-2024.

An agreement was also signed on the establishment of a business council between the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and Georgia.
