Upon arrival in Baku March 1, Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. According to the presidential press service, the parties reviewed in detail the progress of the agreements reached at the highest level.
The two leaders underscored that thanks to systematic and productive contacts, the Uzbek-Azerbaijani strategic partnership ties have reached a qualitatively new level. Last year, the two-way trade increased by more than 50 percent. The implementation of cooperation projects in such priority areas as the automotive industry, the textile industry and sericulture is in the active phase.
Reportedly, preparations are underway for promising projects in the oil and gas sector, transport and logistics. Within the framework of the first forum of provinces held in Tashkent in February this year, an agreement was signed on the establishment of a joint investment fund,” the report says.
The counterparts noted interest in the exchange of experience in the development of the activities of free economic zones and the system of tax administration and pointed to the importance of further expansion of cultural and humanitarian exchanges.
The heads of state discussed topical international and regional issues, considered a schedule of upcoming events.
