Cholpon-Ata hosts meeting of Central Asian foreign ministers

A meeting of foreign ministers of Central Asian states was held in Cholpon-Ata under the chairmanship of Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev.

Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi, Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin, Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov and Ambassador of Turkmenistan Shadurdy Meredov participated in the meeting.

The meeting participants discussed the preparations for the upcoming Consultative Meeting of Heads of State of Central Asia on July 21 in Cholpon-Ata and approved the agenda and draft outcome documents of the summit.

It was emphasized that the format of Consultative Meetings of Central Asian leaders was a significant five-sided platform for exchange of views on all issues of regional interaction. The sides noted the importance of maintaining regularity of contacts in this format and the need for its further improvement.

The foreign ministers of Central Asian states were unanimous in their opinion about the necessity of further improvement of five-sided format of interaction, including Central Asia+ formats.

During the meeting, the sides noted the fruitful cooperation of Central Asian states within the UN, OSCE, CIS, SCO and other international organizations, mutual support within these platforms, and expressed their intention to continue close cooperation in multilateral formats.

In addition, the ministers exchanged views on current international and regional issues.
