Central Asia Countries, Russia Mulling Agreement on Migration

Russia and the Central Asia countries are preparing an agreement on migration. We may be talking about training centers for labor migrants.

The кудумфте bodies of Uzbekistan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan are working on the preparation of an intergovernmental agreement on migration. The exact date of signing the documents is not yet known. Altynay Omurbekova, director of the Labor Migration and Social Protection Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission, informed about this.

On February 10, Alexander Sternik, the director of the Department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced that he plans to sign an agreement on migration in 2023.

According to him, work is underway to open training centers for migration in Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. In the centers it is planned to provide a number of services to those who want to go to Russia, in particular, the registration service.

According to the Russia Foreign Ministry, 3.47 million foreign citizens entered Russia in 2022. Among them, 377,000 people came from Uzbekistan, 336,000 from Tajikistan, and 84,000 from Kyrgyzstan.
