ADB to finance construction of Kyzylorda – Zhezkazgan highway

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with President of the Asian Development Bank Masatsugu Asakawa, who arrived in Astana to participate in the 23rd Ministerial Conference of the Central Asian Regional Economic Cooperation, vlast.kz reported.

Since 1994, the bank has financed projects in Kazakhstan worth almost $7 billion. In particular, ADB participated in the construction of the Western Europe – Western China international automobile corridor and the reconstruction of the Aktobe – Kandyagash road.

During Asakawa’s visit, it is planned to sign an agreement on financing the construction of the Kyzylorda – Zhezkazgan highway for more than $300 million. The President of the ADB assured Tokayev that the bank is ready to continue close cooperation, including participation in major projects aimed at modernizing infrastructure, improving the social sphere and strengthening the investment climate
