Assistant Secretary: US is ready to support establishment of durable peace in South Caucasus

The United States continues to support the peace process and normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia and is happy to help in this direction, US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O’Brien told an online briefing on January 11, Report informs.

According to him, it is gratifying that discussions are continuing on a bilateral basis to resolve the remaining issues between the parties.

“We are very encouraged that they [Azerbaijan and Armenia] have an active agenda at the bilateral level and continue to resolve the remaining issues. There is still work to be done and we are happy to support as much as we can,” said O’Brien.

According to the Assistant Secretary of State, the United States has good relations both with Azerbaijan and Armenia and believes that peace between them will create good opportunities for development in the region.
