Daily life slowly returning to normal in regions under control of Taliban

KANDAHAR, AFGHANISTAN – AUGUST 17: After the Taliban’s rapid takeover of the country, the daily life began to slowly return to normal in the regions under control of the group.

Last week, following days of heavy clashes, the Taliban forces captured Afghanistan’s second- and third-largest cities of Kandahar and Herat on Thursday, Aug. 12.

On Tuesday, Aug. 17, people living in Kandahar started to go to work and carry out their daily routines.

While Taliban forces patrolled the streets, Taliban flags were seen hanging on public buildings.

The Taliban have taken over Afghanistan after capturing the capital Kabul on Sunday and are in the process of establishing their government that had been removed after US-led foreign forces occupied the country in 2001.
