Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Monday (Sept. 19) that Ukrainian forces are stabilizing the situation and holding their positions in Kharkiv.

“Firmly. So firmly that the occupiers are panicking tangibly,” said Zelenskyy said during his nightly address, after meeting with the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian forces.

He warned Russian soldiers to flee Ukraine or surrender.

“The collaborators have similar options – either they will try to escape, and it remains to be seen whether Russia will let them into its territory, even despite giving them its passports, or the collaborators will be convicted according to the current legislation of Ukraine,” the president continued.

He urged Ukrainian armed forces and the partners to keep pace, adding that “The pace of providing aid to Ukraine should correspond to the pace of our movement.”

The Ukrainian army has launched a critical counterattack against Russian forces and recaptured more settlements in the Kharkiv region as the war enters its seventh month.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said his forces have recaptured 6,000 square kilometers (2,320 square miles) this month, urging the West to impose more sanctions on Moscow and speed up deliveries of weapons systems.

Russia launched a war on Ukraine on Feb. 24 which has left 5,767 people killed and 8,292 injured, according to UN estimates, which said the actual figures could be higher.
