Turkmenistan took part in an online meeting of Central Asia – Russia format

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Raşit Meredow ook part in the fifth meeting of Foreign Ministers in the format of a videoconference “Central Asia – Russia”.
The meeting was also attended by the heads of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi, Kyrgyzstan-Ruslan Kazakbayev, Tajikistan-Sirojiddin Muhriddin , Russia – Sergey Lavrov and Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov.
According to the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Turkey, issues of developing cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and Russia in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres were discussed at the meeting. In his speech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan noted the importance of strengthening security in the region, as well as the development of mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, industry, energy, transport, healthcare and the environment.
Speaking about the situation in Afghanistan, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan stressed the need to continue active cooperation in resolving Afghan issues.
Another pressing topic of the meeting was the coronavirus pandemic. In this regard, the Turkmen side drew the attention of the meeting participants to the proposal to create a regional center for virology and bacteriology to strengthen Ashgabat’s efforts to overcome the pandemic.
