Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights met to discuss humanitarian cooperation issues. The meeting aimed to increase joint efforts to protect and promote human rights.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the current situation and future steps in the field of human rights in the country were discussed. Representatives of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights appreciated the positive steps taken by Turkmenistan in this field and made proposals for further strengthening cooperation. The sides agreed to develop joint projects, especially in the areas of education, health, women’s rights and child protection. Also on the agenda was the organization of training programs and seminars aimed at raising awareness on human rights. In recent years, Turkmenistan has undertaken various reforms to comply with international standards in the field of human rights. These discussions with the UN are aimed at furthering the country’s commitments in this area. The meeting was attended by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, as well as representatives of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Central Asia. Both sides expressed their determination to support future cooperation with concrete steps.
