Japan concerned over human rights violations by China: Premier

TOKYO (AA) – Japan has strong concerns over human rights violations by China in the Xinjiang Autonomous Region and Hong Kong, the Japanese premier said on Saturday.

Fumio Kishida’s remarks came at the 13th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) hosted virtually by Cambodia. More than 50 countries and regions participated in the meeting.

Commenting on geopolitical developments in the region, Kishida said that his country strongly rejects any unilateral attempts to change the regional status quo in the East China Sea and South China Sea.
