Cambodian PM tests positive for COVID after hosting summit

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen announced he tested positive for the coronavirus on Monday after holding meetings with world leaders at the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) forum, APA reports citing Teletrader.

In his announcement, the official said he was notified about the result by a physician on Tuesday morning after already arriving at the Group of Twenty (G20) summit in Indonesia, adding that, due to arriving late, he luckily missed a dinner hosted by French President Emmanuel Macron. The prime minister said he will be pulling out of the G20 summit as well as the upcoming APEC economic forum.

ASEAN guests included Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, US President Joe Biden and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, among others. Russia had since denied Monday’s reports of Lavrov’s “hospitalization,” accusing Western media, specifically AP and Reuters, of spreading “fake” news.
