Biden and Scholz discussed Russia, Ukraine and the chancellor’s visit to China by phone

US President Joe Biden on Sunday held a telephone conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, during which he discussed Russia, assistance to Ukraine and the recent visit of the head of the German government to China, the White House said, APA reports citing Political Lore.

“President Joe Biden spoke with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz today. The leaders discussed the chancellor’s recent visit to the People’s Republic of China…agreed that Russia’s recent nuclear threats are irresponsible,” the statement said.

“They underlined the continued commitment of the United States and Germany to provide economic, humanitarian and military assistance to Ukraine,” the White House added.

Scholz paid a one-day visit to Beijing on Friday, where he met Chinese President Xi Jinping for the first time as chancellor.
