General Phan Van Giang receives Russian Ambassador to Vietnam

Defence Minister General Phan Van Giang hosted a reception for Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Gennady Bezdetko in Hanoi on August 4.

General Phan Van Giang congratulated Mr. Gennady Bezdetko on his appointment as Russian Ambassador to Vietnam, believing that in his new position, Mr. Gennady Bezdetko would complete excellently his assigned tasks.

General Phan Van Giang affirmed that the long-standing traditional relationship and the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the Russia have been developing well. The Vietnamese people and Vietnam People’s Army always cherish the long-standing and good traditional friendship as well as the great and effective help that the people of the Soviet Union (Russian Federation today) have given to Vietnam in the struggle for national independence and unification in the past as well as in the cause of national construction today, he affirmed.

General Phan Van Giang emphasized that, despite the impact and influence of the COVID-19 pandemic, the two defence ministries are still determined to effectively implement the 2021 defence cooperation plan, thereby contributing to strengthening the defence cooperation between the two countries, focusing on the fields training, military-technical cooperation, donating a number of medical supplies for COVID-19 prevention and control, etc.

For his part, Mr. Gennady Bezdetko thanked General Phan Van Giang for the warm reception and affirmed that in his new position, he would try his best to contribute to the development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries in the coming time.
