On December 24, Uzbekistan and Egypt the 7th meeting of the Uzbekistan-Egypt Intergovernmental Commission on trade, economic, and scientific-technical cooperation in Tashkent to enhance trade, economic, and investment ties. The talks were led by the Uzbek Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade, Laziz Kudratov and Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat.
The parties underscored a significant increase in two-way trade, which doubled last year and is continuing to grow. There are currently 15 Egyptian-invested companies in Uzbekistan, with ongoing projects in food production, geological exploration, and infrastructure modernization.
The day’s program continued with a Business Forum, attended by more than 150 business leaders from two countries. The Egyptian delegation included executives of El Sewedy Electric, Hassan Allam Holding, ACDIMA, EPICO, Nile Sugar, Badawy Group, Masriya Machine, Ebtkarat Smart Systems, Solyphar, and Al Farouk For Import & Export, among others.
