UN: Kyrgyzstan resolving border issues peacefully

Kyrgyzstan is peacefully resolving issues of border delimitation and demarcation, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres said at a meeting with President Sadyr Japarov, which took place at the state residence in Cholpon-Ata.

“Cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the UN is developing fruitfully. All issues related to borders are resolved at the diplomatic level. You have agreed on the delimitation of borders with Uzbekistan. I think the problem with Tajikistan will also be resolved. Kyrgyzstan can be called a symbol of peace,” he said.

Japarov and Guterres will discuss the state and prospects of cooperation within the UN, exchange views on current issues on the international agenda, and get acquainted with one of the UNDP projects. A cultural awareness program is also planned.

The UN secretary general will travel to Astana on July 3 to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.
