UK urges G-7 to supply more weapons to Ukraine

British Foreign Secretary calls on G-7 partners to keep up pressure on Putin by supplying more weapons, expanding sanctions.

Britain urged Group of Seven nations on Friday to increase pressure on Kremlin by supplying more weapons to Ukraine, and expanding sanctions against Russia.

“It is very important at this time that we keep up the pressure on Vladimir Putin by supplying more weapons to Ukraine, by increasing the sanctions,” British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss told reporters, on her way to the meeting of G-7 foreign ministers.

“G-7 unity has been vital during this crisis to protect freedom and democracy. And we’ll continue to work together to do just that,” she added.

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock is hosting the three-day meeting in the Baltic Sea resort of Weissenhaus to discuss the Russia-Ukraine war, and tackle its regional and global repercussions.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba and Moldovan Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu are also attending the meeting as guests.
