Kyrgyzstan’s trade with the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) increased by 9% in the first 11 months of 2024. According to the data, during this period, the volume of Kyrgyzstan’s trade with the EAEU member states recorded significant growth.
The EAEU is an economic union of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, which aims to liberalize trade and strengthen economic cooperation among the member states. Since 2015, when Kyrgyzstan joined the union, the country’s trade relations with other member states have been developing steadily. During this period, Kyrgyzstan’s exports to the EAEU countries increased, as well as imports from these countries. In particular, agricultural products, textiles and light industrial products are among the prominent items in Kyrgyzstan’s exports. Experts state that this increase in trade volume is a result of the measures taken to reduce customs barriers and facilitate trade among the EAEU member states. In addition, Kyrgyzstan’s geographical location and historical ties with the member states also play an important role in strengthening these trade relations. The Kyrgyz government continues to work on new projects and agreements to further develop trade and economic cooperation with the EAEU. In this context, it is aimed to evaluate cooperation opportunities, especially in the fields of agriculture, industry and energy.
