South Korean companies have unveiled plans to invest in Karakalpakstan, focusing on modern agriculture, IT, and women’s education. The initiatives, worth a combined $100 million, were revealed during a visit by a Karakalpak delegation to South Korea for a Central Asia regional cooperation forum, Kun.uz reported.
KIDL, a South Korean agricultural firm, signed a $62 million agreement with Shamchiroq To’rtkol to establish state-of-the-art greenhouses in Karakalpakstan. This collaboration aims to enhance the region’s agricultural output and create opportunities for local farmers through advanced technologies.
One of the highlights of the visit was a $38 million project to create a women’s training center in Nukus. This initiative, supported by Sookmyung Women’s University, the Economic Development and Cooperation Fund (EDCF), and Hyundai Research Institute, will provide vocational training and professional development services to women in Karakalpakstan.
