Amid ongoing Taliban advance, Ghani praises unity of Afghan nations, security forces’ valor in wake of ‘imposed war’
KABUL, Afghanistan (AA) – In the wake of mounting Taliban onslaught and advances nationwide, Afghan president Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Saturday vowed to continue defending his government.
In a short televised speech, Ghani thanked the Afghan nation and security forces for their valor, sacrifices, and resistance in the wake of an “imposed war” the country faces.
“The country is in serious danger of instability,” said the president.
He vowed not to allow the fighting to cause more deaths, adding: “That’s why we’ve held extensive consultations with everyone within the government and international partners. (The) consultations are ongoing and the results will be shared soon.”
