Several criminal groups in Bangladesh working with international trafficking gangs, according to police.
DHAKA, Bangladesh (AA) – Three members of an international human trafficking gang were arrested in Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka, authorities announced on Tuesday.
The three people arrested include Mollik Rezaul Haq, 62, who was leading a trafficking group in Bangladesh that works with an international gang, according to a statement by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), the elite force of Bangladeshi police.
Fake passports and other incriminating materials were found in their possession, it added.
“Several criminal groups have been working in Bangladesh in collaboration with international human trafficking gangs to lure people to illegally migrate to developed countries like Australia, Italy, France, and the Netherlands,” read the statement.
At least 372 people working with international human trafficking gangs have been arrested in Bangladesh, including 138 in just the last two months, a RAB official told Anadolu Agency, requesting anonymity as he was not authorized to speak to the media.
