Albania ready to take its share of burden as NATO member, says Edi Rama
BELGRADE, Serbia (AA) – Albania has accepted a request from Washington to temporarily take in Afghan refugees seeking visas to enter the US, the Albanian prime minister said on Sunday.
Edi Rama said that his country will shelter hundreds of Afghans who worked with Western peacekeeping military forces in Afghanistan.
“No doubt we shall not say no. Albania, a NATO member, is ready to take its share of the burden,” said Rama.
Meanwhile, Luan Dalipi, Kosovan prime minister’s chief of staff, said that they have been in contact with the US authorities about housing Afghan refugees since mid-July.
