Moscow hopes to continue developing multilateral cooperation with New Delhi, the Russian Foreign Ministry said. In a Telegram post marking the 78th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the ministry said, “We congratulate our Indian friends on our joint holiday. We express our confidence that friendly relations will continue to develop rapidly and steadily, and Russian-Indian ties will expand.” According to the ministry, bilateral relations are characterized by reliability, intensive political interaction and strategic partnership with special privileges. “Our relations are characterized by a high level of mutual trust, respect for national interests and similar or close views on key issues of global and regional policy,” the statement said, adding, ”Every year meetings and negotiations are held at the highest level to discuss the main directions of cooperation and urgent international and regional issues.” The ministry also emphasized the successful development of cultural, humanitarian, trade and economic cooperation between the two countries, noting that nuclear energy is still one of the key areas of interaction.
