SCNS Border Service said that there are no casualties among the personnel of the Border Service of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) of Kyrgyzstan in the exchange of fire at the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border.

A meeting of border guard representatives for Kyrgyzstan’s Batken Oblast and Tajikistan’s Sughd Region is continuing in Bulak Bashy settlement, Batken Oblast of Kyrgyzstan.

The meeting is also attended by heads of security agencies of the border regions of the two republics.

“During the meeting, the parties consider the reasons for the exchange of fire between the Bulak-Bashy (Kyrgyzstan) and Keh (Tajikistan) border posts. The first result of the negotiations was the decision to withdraw the units from the occupied combat positions,” the report says.

As of 1:00 p.m., the situation in the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border is characterized as tense.
