Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov arrived in Ankara on an official visit to Turkey. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Lavrov was traveling to Turkey to discuss a wide range of issues on the international, regional and bilateral agenda. A source in the Turkish Foreign Ministry said Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan planned to discuss with his Russian counterpart the situation in the Middle East, Syria and Ukraine. The two ministers met on February 20 during the Group of Twenty (G20) ministerial meeting in Johannesburg, South Africa, where they coordinated the bilateral agenda and discussed the situation in Syria. On February 18, the Russian Foreign Minister briefed his Turkish counterpart on the results of the Russia-US talks in Riyadh.
