Japanese oil firm Eneos stops imports from Russia

Japanese petroleum company Eneos has stopped importing oil from Russia, according to Russian state-owned news agency Tass on Friday.

The company plans to replace Russian oil with supplies from a number of different regions, including the Middle East, a Tass report said.

Russian crude oil accounts approximately 3% of Japan’s total oil imports.

Due to the war in Ukraine, governments and major companies from various sectors around the world have announced the suspension of their operations and withdrawal from the Russian market since Feb. 24.

The Western countries have also imposed sanctions on hundreds of Russian companies and individuals.
