Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubaev met with President of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy Lorenzo Fontana in Italy, the Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan said.
The officials discussed prospects of further development of Kyrgyz-Italian inter-parliamentary cooperation, expansion of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties and interaction in the field of education.
Foreign Minister Kulubaev proposed to create a friendship group of deputies of the Italian parliament and the Jogorku Kenesh of Kyrgyzstan, which could become the basis for expanding interaction and organizing visits at the level of parliamentary leadership.
The Minister noted that direct inter-parliamentary contacts and mutual visits not only help strengthen cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries, but can also become a bridge of friendship between the peoples of Kyrgyzstan and Italy.
President of the Italian Chamber of Deputies Lorenzo Fontana expressed his readiness to assist in implementation of joint Kyrgyz-Italian projects in specific areas of cooperation.
Issues of interaction between the parliaments of Kyrgyzstan and Italy within the framework of the European Union, the European Parliament and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly were also considered.
