First railway tour between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan being launched

The Silk Road railway tour is being launched in Kazakhstan. The first Almaty-Turkestan-Tashkent-Almaty tour will start on November 16, 2024.

The international railway tour will allow tourists to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of ancient cities and travel along the Great Silk Road in 4 days. The route includes the key sights of Turkestan and Tashkent. For the convenience of tourists, the tour program includes a guide, meals, transportation services and entrance tickets.

“A result of joint efforts, the unique railway tour will connect the two countries. Travel will become more comfortable and accessible for Kazakhs and tourists from other countries who want to get to know the rich spiritual and historical heritage. This is an important step in the development of tourism and strengthening of cultural ties between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan,” said Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, Yerzhan Yerkinbayev.

Travelers will be able to see one of the most ancient cities in Central Asia – Otyrar, which was an important trading hub. The tour program also includes a visit to the Arystan-baba mausoleum, the Azret Sultan historical and cultural reserve-museum, the largest of its kind tourist complex in Central Asia, Caravanserai. In Tashkent, tour participants are given the opportunity to get acquainted not only with historical sites, but also with the modern development of the city.
