Uzbekistan’s Minister of Natural Resources holds talks with UN representatives

Minister of Natural Resources Aziz Abdukhakimov met with representatives of UN organizations (UNECE, UNEP, FAO), UzA reported.

Enhancing collaboration between the Ministry of Natural Resources and the UN organizations, the ongoing work and future effective projects were discussed at the meeting.

The parties also considered issues of further strengthening cooperation in ecology and environmental protection, elimination of problems such as air pollution, land degradation and prevention of water pollution.

The need for a gradual transition to a green economy, the use of foreign experience, the introduction of environmental education and culture based on the Ministry of Natural Resources, the involvement of foreign scientists and experts to implement these tasks was noted.

An agreement was reached on the joint holding of the 14th Meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP14) to the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals, which is scheduled to be held in Samarkand in October this year.
