On June 7, elections for members of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) for the period 2025-2027 took place at the United Nations headquarters in New York City.

Based on the results of a secret ballot, the Republic of Uzbekistan received 185 votes from UN member states and, for the first time in its history, was elected to ECOSOC for the specified term.

The election of our country to this key UN body is the evidence of widespread recognition by the international community and member states of the United Nations of the progressive reforms carried out under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in all spheres.

It should be noted that ECOSOC is the main body of the UN, which is responsible for coordinating the economic and social activities of the Organization. The Council occupies a key place in the UN system for promoting all three dimensions of sustainable development – economic, social and environmental. It consists of 54 states elected for a 3-year term.
