President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev made an address on the occasion of the signing of a Cooperation Agreement on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project between the governments of the three countries.
The head of state noted that the railway will become “the shortest land link” connecting China with Central Asia.
“Railway commissioning will allow us to effectively service the growing volume of cargo transportation. According to experts, the annual volume of cargo transportation can increase to 15 million tons, and the delivery time of goods can be reduced by 7 days,” Mirziyoyev stated.
According to the President of Uzbekistan, modern warehouses and terminals will be created as part of the project. It is expected that the railway will allow participating countries to access the larger markets of South Asia and the Middle East through the Trans-Afghan corridor in the future.
The necessary infrastructure has been created on the territory of Uzbekistan for the implementation of the project, Mirziyoyev said.
“Once again I want to assure all our partners that the Uzbek side is ready to cooperate on the construction of the railway and the full implementation of the signed agreement and roadmap,” said the President of Uzbekistan.
