President Sadyr Japarov today has received Vice Premier of China’s State Council Liu Guozhong, the president’s press service reported.
Deepening of bilateral cooperation in trade, economic, transport, logistical, investment spheres were discussed.
China is one of main trade and investment partners of Kyrgyzstan, President Japarov said.
He reminded the Kyrgyz Republic was one of the first to support Chinese President Xi Jinping’s Belt and Road Initiative, which practical implementation is seen as one of the main sources for implementation of joint infrastructure projects on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
President Japarov noted the biggest transport project which will elevate economic cooperation between two countries to a new level should become construction of China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway.The President stated that this project will help deepen trade and economic cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and China, and will also have a multiplier effect for the development of other economic sectors.
The parties reached a common understanding on the mechanism for implementing the project, and completed joint work on the preparation of a tripartite intergovernmental agreement on the project.
President Japarov expressed hope that implementation of the project will begin in the nearest future.
The Chinese side is ready to help deepen bilateral interaction and fill cooperation with practical content, Liu Guozhong said.
He noted that last year the bilateral trade reached almost $20 billion.
The Vice Premier of the State Council said that China will also continue to encourage large Chinese enterprises to invest in the economy of Kyrgyzstan.
Speaking about implementation of large infrastructure projects, Liu Guozhong stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping called for intensifying negotiations on the railway construction project.
Negotiations on this issue last for 20 years, and the time has come for its practical implementation, the Chinese Vice Premier said.
During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on opening of additional crossing points on the Kyrgyz-Chinese border, improving air traffic, as well as the creation of a joint investment fund.
