Tajikistan to send humanitarian aid to Pakistan

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has ordered the provision of humanitarian assistance to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan totaling 12.2 million somoni to support the people affected by heavy rains and severe flooding, Khovar reported.

Pakistan has been under heavy rains and floods for over a month. As a result 1,265 individuals have died, with a total of 226,000 people facing the effects of the floods. Due to this, at the initiative of President Rahmon the Order of the State Commission of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan on Emergency Situations was adopted to allow for the provision of humanitarian aid to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The assistance package includes 500 tons of flour, 500 tons of drinking water, 1,000 tons of coal, 1,000 tons of cement, and 20,000 pieces of slate.
A convoy of vehicles with humanitarian aid will leave tomorrow.
